DANGER!!  ..do not buy these treats for your pet!

One of our clients purchased these treats for their 7 month old Vizsla puppy from a well-known, local pet supply house, thinking they were a nutritious treat.  The chucks shown below the package to the right of the chew sticks were removed from the puppy's blocked intestine during emergency surgery.   The puppy is presently recovering.

There is presently a class action suit involving these treats.

Family saves wounded mother duck

Rana and Ela were visiting a neighborhood pond when they spotted a mother duck with a fish hook caught in her neck.  The mallard was surrounded by her ducklings.  With their mother's help, Rana and Ela were able to capture the wounded duck and bring her to Parkside Animal Hospital where the fish hook was removed and the wound was cleaned.  The mother duck is now back with her ducklings.

THANK YOU to Ela, Rana and their mother for kindness and quick action.  You made a difference!

Keller Fireman responded..

Recently a family picked up their pets from grooming.

The car doors locked when the pets stepped on the automatic lock in their excitement.. the keys were inside.

The temperature inside the car rose quickly.

When locksmiths could not guarantee arrival before the pets were harmed, City of Keller firemen responded.

Chewy and Shadow were freed from the car in time and safely cooled by Parkside Hospital personnel.

The happy outcome can be seen here.

Sincere appreciation to the City of Keller firemen!

KATNISS IS HOME!   ..because of her micro-chip

Katniss disappeared from her home near Beach and North Tarrant Pwky in February 2014.  Hours and days of hunting for her turned to weeks and months.. and then the call came.  Found in Decatur and taken to a shelter, Katniss was scanned for a micro-chip, and there it was!  Current information had been registered, her owner was contacted.  Last week.. the first week in April 2015.. over a year after she disappeared, Katniss was home!  The joy of her owner can be seen in his face.

Pets that are micro-chipped have a much higher change to return home even if missing for quite some time.  Pets not chipped or with obsolete/not current contact information linked to their chip have a much lower change of being returned home, especially if they are not found within a few days.  IS YOUR PET CHIPPED?  IS YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION CURRENT?

Contact Parkside Animal Hospital and your pet can be chipped today!

AVMA video on Micro-chipping

The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends the use of microchip identification implants to help raise the likelyhood that lost pets will be returned to their owners.

Please view the attached video to see the advantages of using microchip identification implants for pets, how they are implanted, and what pet owners should do to keep the information linked to them current and useful to animal rescuers.
